The President of the Republic, Danilo Medina Sánchez, inaugurated today the facilities of the country's first factory of vulcanized boots for rain and snow, of the DJM Footwear Corporation, located in the Tamboril Industrial Free Zone, in Santiago, and is a subsidiary of the Chinese corporation Ningshing Holdings, a world leader in the production of vulcanized footwear. A press release from the Presidency indicates that DJM Footwear Corporation is the second manufacturing company of investment from the People's Republic of China to be installed under the Free Trade Zone regime of the Republic. The ceremony began with the words of businessman Mícalo Bermúdez, president of the Tamboril Free Zone, who thanked the multinational Ningshing Holdings for the trust it has placed in the company to set up its operations in the Free Zone, highlighting the more than 21 years of experience of this park in the development of industries in the footwear sector for export. On behalf of the Dominican government, Luisa Fernández Durán, executive director of the National Council of Free Zones, said that the start-up of the new operations of this company will provide formal employment opportunities for the inhabitants of Tamboril and surrounding communities. In fact, for the first year of operations, DJM Footwear will generate 500 new direct jobs and more than 1,000 indirect jobs", according to the press release.
